DRH Forestry Consulting Limited, is a Port Alberni-based forest engineering and planning company. They have teamed up with Ray Bartram, MBA, RFT, and Cindy Hutchison, RPF, because, as a team, they are uniquely able to provide the diverse set of skills and local knowledge required to see the community forest application process to fruition. Individually, they have worked extensively in the Sproat Lake area designated for the community forest, and with potential interested stakeholders to realize multiple land use objectives.

DRH Forestry Consulting, Ray Bartram, and Cindy Hutchison all advocate a pragmatic approach to forest management resulting in on-going economic benefit for forest licensees within a framework of good forest stewardship.

	Ray Bartram, MBA, RFT Ray is the principal of Ryka Industries Ltd. and the co-owner of Ceteris Contracting Ltd.  Ryka provides forest consulting, business and project management services, buys and sells timber and takes on logging projects whenever they arise.  Ceteris salvages merchantable timber from previously harvested areas within the Alberni Valley, and also operates as a logging contractor.Ray has 27 years of progressive forest management and harvesting experience. He built on this experience, and prepared for change in the forest industry by returning to school as a mid-career learner, receiving a Master’s of Business Administration from Royal Roads University in 2004. Ray is committed to building consensus and mutual respect between stakeholders, First Nations, non-government organizations and government agencies in order to ensure successful business operations.
	Cindy Hutchison, RPF Cindy is an independent Forest Management and Silviculture Consultant who has based her forestry career in the Alberni Valley.Cindy has a forestry degree from the University of Toronto. Because of the urban setting, her forestry education focused on multiple-use community and urban forests. In 1996, Cindy moved west to pursue her forest management aspirations. Her humble beginnings were as a Silviculture Surveyor with Hillcroft Forestry Consulting where she spent most of her time driving the gravel roads of TFL 44, including Sproat Lake Operation, and the land base of the proposed Alberni Valley Community Forest. She quickly moved to become a valuable member of the planning team. Working with the Foresters and Engineers of TFL 44 she has been responsible for preparing high quality Forest Development Plans, Silviculture Prescriptions and Site Plans, and has assisted in preparing a Western Forest Products Forest Stewardship Plan. Cindy has been responsible for post-harvest auditing, company compliance with operational plans, and planning and supervision of silviculture treatments. In addition to the work for Western Forest Products, Cindy has completed forestry projects with several First Nations and BC Timber Sales, and has worked as an auxiliary Tenures Forester for the Ministry of Forests and Range.
	Darren Hiller, RFT As a principal of DRH Forestry Consulting (DRH), Darren brings diversity of experience and extensive knowledge of our working forest. Darren’s primary responsibilities include overseeing, supervising, and management of all planning functions including: all phases of forest engineering, cruising, mapping, road permits, cutting permits, and amendments. He also liaises between crews and clients thus ensuring that clients receive complete and efficient service.Darren has over 16 years of forestry experience ranging from forestry logging harvesting to planning and engineering supervision. Darren’s planning experience began in 1994 working for MacMillan Bloedel Ltd. in the Queen Charlotte Islands. After working there for 5 years Darren left to pursue his Forestry Technician Diploma from Northwest Community College in Terrace, BC. Darren and his family moved to Port Alberni in 2000 to work for Weyerhaeuser where he has enjoyed working within TFL 44 ever since. Darren and his company personnel have extensive local knowledge of the proposed Alberni Valley Community Forest operating area as DRH currently holds a multi-year multiphase planning contract with BC Timber Sales, Port Alberni Operation, and has completed several projects for Weyerhaeuser/Western Forest Products in the past. Darren also brings valuable experience assisting the HFN with their continual pursuit and implementation of forest license tenure agreements.
