In November of 2009 the AVCF entered into a 25 year Community Forest Agreement with the Provincial Ministry of Forest and Range. The Agreement provides for the exclusive rights to harvest Crown timber and non-timber resources from a specified land base area. The Community Forest is held and operated by the “Alberni Valley Community Forest Corporation” (AVCF) which is 100% owned by the City of Port Alberni.

The AVCF Corporation is seeking proposals for the provision of management services for the start up and on-going operation of the Community Forest consistent with the Vision, Guiding Principles and Goals of the AV Community Forest Corporation Board of Directors.

The Corporation invites qualified proponents to submit a proposal. The proposal must detail the proponents experience in coastal forestry and area based management and provide a detailed plan for start up and on-going management of the Community Forest.

The Proposal document contains specific details on what information is expected in the proposal. Proposal documents may be obtained from Alberni Communications (4570 10th Avenue, Port Alberni, B.C). or from the website www.communityforest.ca

Proposal will be accepted up to 4:30 pm, Wednesday, July 14, 2010.

AVCF reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to accept the proposal that is deemed most favourable to the interest of the Corporation.
